NRL was after a scaled up but exact replica of the NRL Trophy for the 2008 season launch, the first of its kind for such an event. With a few laser scanners to choose from the engineers decided to go with the Faro Laser Scanner and Model maker Combo for it’s ability to capture accurate detail.
From the raw scan data the point cloud mesh was then imported into Geomagic Studio to create a 3D surface model and exported as an IGES file ready for the multi axis robot to machine.
