AFTRS use 3D Scanning on Short Film Plastic

Cyber scanning has been used on movies for over 10 years and final year AFTRS students Sandy and Courtney were leading the way using ‘digital doubles’ (as they are sometimes known) their thesis – a short film known as Plastic.

Sandy & Courtney explain the processes they used to create the multi award winning Plastic (as on AFTRS showcase website):

“Shane Rolton (WYSIWYG 3D) supported the production by executing the full 3D body scans of the actress catering for the possibility of having to replace shots with 3D elements if the 2D warping effect didn’t work out according to plan.”
