3D Scanning and 3D Printing a Triumph Badge
The client needed a new badge for his customised fuel tank but wanted it to look the same as the original badge.
This was the typical – I want it exactly the same but completely different.
The existing badge didn’t fit the client’s new but customised fuel tank. First we 3d scanned the fuel tank with micron accuracy as well as the existing badge.
The badge needed to be redesigned and remodelled to fit the shape of the new tank but resemble the original badge.
Some 3D Printing materials are not suitable for outdoors as they can become brittle over time, however, as the badge was going to be chrome plated, 3D printing was a cost effective solution for a small batch.
