3D Scanning for Sculpture is fast becoming popular as it can saves months of labour.
Artist and Sculptor Jenny Green was commissioned to do a sculpture as part of major landscaping project around a pool.As part of the client approval process a small maquette was made and 3d Scanned using the Faro Arm and Nikon laser combo. Whilst the 3D scanning was a quick process it was how the engineers processed the data that would make all the difference for this project. The data was imported into Geomagic Studio, scaled up and segmented ready for machining (as shown by the different colours in the picture below) saving the sculptor months of labour. The parts are then assembled with the finishing touches done by the sculptor ready for the bronzing process.
