3D Scanning makes Automation simple and easy for Warehouse Facility
Scanning and remodelling of every rack of a warehouse facility based in Smithfield for forklift automation
Our client has been a supplier of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to Australia and New Zealand for over 40 years. They have been at the forefront of many developments in AGV technologies and have pioneered new advances in the areas of safety and vehicle navigation. For that and many other reasons they decided that the most sensible way forward was to bring WYSIWYG 3D along to automate the process even more.
The scope of this project was to scan and remodel each horizontal and vertical beam of the racks, create an accurate model of the ground and any possible obstruction that could be on the forklift`s way.
After a full day scanning and three weeks of modelling the job was completed.
The narrow aisles and high accuracy required made it a real challenge. As much as you would believe the beam looks all the same, to achieve the accuracy required each and every beam had to be modelled individually.
Big exercise, but financially viable in the long run.
Automating is the future and so is WYSIWYG 3D.
