3D Scanning for Dimensional Control

Problem: Bottom blocks deforms when left on the pallet for maturing. When cut into 1 or 2kg blocks can’t make uniform loft.

Solution: Scan 8 pallets (480) blocks of cheese and check what the deformations are compared to the block nominal size.

It kept track of type of cheese, location made, maturation time, weight and position on the pallet (5 layers).

Individual reports were created for each block of cheese with deviation map showing a plot of how different the block was compared to the nominal size plus measurements such as (min, mean and max) length, height and width.

At the end a trend analysis was computed with all the measurements made over the 480 blocks of cheese.

Lets just say that cheese and crackers wasn’t on the menu any time soon!
