Wysiwyg 3D was called upon to help cyber scan the Son of The Mask car for manufacturing and laser scan a mask for the dog animation. This project came with many challenges and limiting factors.
Starting from approved sketches an artist’s clay maquette was developed and 3d laser scanned. A Holden Monaro or Pontiac GTO was also 3D scanned as the basis of the Son of Mask car. Not only did it have to be finished in 11 weeks with a tight budget but it had to drive like a real car, including working head lights and doors, capable of driving at over 100mph as the mask stunt car but also be left hand drive as the movie was still American all while filming in the streets of Melbourne Australia.
Another challenge was that it had to fit into an shipping container to send the car back to America.
